It was on the Korean Peninsula. That's why it is called the Korean War.

WWII, Korean War, then Vietnam War
"Interests" has two meanings: 1. US interests were stopping communist aggression; consequently, the Korean War. 2. Lack of interest in the Korean War, is due to it timing with WW2. WW2 overshadows the Korean War; as Korea erupted only 5 years after WW2 ended. Many Korean War veterans fought in WW2. When it came to talking about Korea, they preferred to talk about WW2; consequence? Korea became the "Forgotten War."
