She contributed to cancer research by discovering radium, whose gas can heal scar tissue. Also, in World War 1, she got together dozens of trucks, called "Little Curies" and filled them with donated x-ray equipment, saving over a million lives. She discovered polonium, radium, and coined the word radioactivity. She was also the first female to win a nobel prize, and the first person ever to win two nobel prizes. She was also the first female professor at Sorbonne University, in Paris.
