After Sally Ride was an astronaut, in 1987, she went to work at Stanford University's Center for International Security and Arms Control. In 1989, she became a professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego, and Director of the California Space Institute. Sally Ride also wrote 6 children's Science books with her partner, Tam O'Shaughnessy. In 2001, Sally Ride founded Sally Ride Science, an innovative science education company whose goal is to to educate, engage, and inspire all students. Sally Ride died on July 23, 2012, at age 61
Sally Ride made history as the first American woman to travel to space in 1983. Her achievements inspired and encouraged countless women and girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. Sally Ride probably liked to do space travel (why not she is the first woman in space after all!!) She also probably liked to work with NASA, and find new stars and planets.
