President Truman did do good things. But, my number one "pet peeve" about him was his involvement with the Korean War. I would rather the US had never gone to Korea. It was a brutal and senseless war that is actually still on today. We only called a truce at the end of the war. That is why there is still US Military personnel there and North Korean Forces there. There is actually a building on the line in which a Korean soldier stands on one side and a South Korean or American Soldier stands on the other side. And this is inside the building. My father sad that war was worse than the war in Europe when he served in World War 2. I have heard other Korean War Vets say the same thing. (Ok, done with my sermon.)
Yes, Harry S. Truman had poor eyesight. He was nearsighted and had to wear glasses for most of his life. In fact, he was the first president to wear glasses while serving in office.
Yes his eyesight was so bad that he had to memorize the eyechart to join the military.
He didn't play a sport due to his bad eyesight. He played the piano instead.
General MacArthur was a bad boy and ignored President Truman's orders. So Truman gave MacArthur the choice to either resign or be fired.
yes
The Justices appointed by Truman turned out to all be fairly conservative... at least one of them so much so that Truman (who was more moderate) regretted it himself later. This doesn't in itself necessarily mean that they were bad, simply that they weren't as liberal as some people had wanted them to be. A more substantial (and less ideological) objection was that a couple of the appointments were perceived as cronyism; for example, one of Truman's selections had served as Truman's Attorney General, but had no prior judicial experience. (This was, in fact, the one whose appointment Truman later called the biggest mistake of his career.)
Rightly or wrongly, the nation ultimately holds the president responsible for the good and bad of government. The phrase "the buck stops here" was a famous motto used by U.S. president Harry Truman. It means that responsibilities should not be passed beyond a point.
Because Harry Truman, Missouri native and then president, played the song on the piano at the White House. After President Truman's successful reelection in 1948 the Missouri state legislature officially adopted it as the state song on June 30, 1949. Despite its association with the President, Truman was never a particular fan of the song saying, "If you let me say what I think, I don't give a ... about it, but I can't say it out loud because it's the song of Missouri. It's as bad as 'The Star Spangled Banner' as far as music is concerned."
bad things.
Truman took over the presidency at the end of WW2 and Stalin was taking over Eastern Europe. In the negotiations with Stalin and Churchill Truman could see that Stalin was planning to import communism. He felt he got on "bad deal" in the division of Berlin and worked to protect Russia against further invasion. The Cold War had begun and the western nations began their policy of containment.
We have had many great Presidents and many bad ones as well. So it is difficult to tell who truly deserves the rank of โthe greatest Presidentโ but I will try without much bias. First off, Harry S. Truman was a fantastic and definitely underrated President. Truman became President when Franklin D. Roosevelt suddenly died. He served two terms in the U.S Senate representing Missouri and after that a few months as VP. Truman helped improve the economy though it was nothing like Eisenhower, Kennedy, Trump or Reagan. It was still improvements to a war rocked nation. Speaking of war Truman helped win and end World War Two. Though Germany was mainly defeated by President Franklin Roosevelt he finished the job with the aid of the Soviet Union. Trumanโs decision to drop the atomic bomb was the tough but right decision. Though Truman did declare war in Korea is was probably the right thing and the US would get uninvolved soon after. Truman also had an 88 approval rating the highest approval rating of any president! Finally, Truman was an admirable guy and smart man. He is heavily underrated with FDR and Eisenhower right before and after but still was a great President.
Pakistani government & specialy Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari are the bad things in Pakistan
