It isn't; Baja California is just a peninsula. A landmark is a place where something can be easily recognizable, such as a building, monument or natural wonder. Some landmarks would be the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore.

Junipero worked for a number of years in Spain after which he transferred to Mexico and spent some time teaching and evangelizing. Next he undertook a mission to unexplored California in the present United States. Here he established a number of missions that turned into settlements and, eventually, major cities. A few examples: San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco
Father Serra himself had a rough childhood. His parents worked hard for a square meal and God was his only hope to find inner peace. He joined a church as an assistant pastor when he was 18 and soon became a priest. Hopes this helps! :)

Father Junípero Serra, a Spanish Franciscan missionary, had a complex relationship with the Indigenous peoples of California. He sought to convert them to Christianity and establish missions, which often led to cultural disruption and loss of traditional ways of life. While some Indigenous individuals embraced the new faith and the benefits of European goods, many others resisted or suffered from the consequences of colonization, including disease and forced labor. Overall, Serra's legacy is contentious, viewed by some as a figure of faith and by others as a symbol of colonial oppression.
