God brought ten plagues upon the Egyptians, using Moses as His go-between. The Ipuwer papyrus mentions a number of the Plagues ("Pestilence is throughout the land....the river is blood, death is not scarce...there is no food...neither fruit nor herbs can be found...barley has perished...all is ruin...the statues are burned") (Professor John van Seters, Journal of Egyptian Archaeology no. 50). The plagues were also described by ancient historians, including Herodotus and Diodorus. The Exodus is mentioned by Strabo, Berosus, Artapanus, Numenius, Justin, and Tacitus.See also the Related Links.

Which pharaoh was asked to release the Hebrews?

There is no indication of his name in the Bible, but scholars call him Pharoah 128, to presume it was Ramses or anyone else is best left to those who do not answer questions on here. And incidentally, no one, Pharaoh or otherwise, drove Moses out of Egypt. Moses went to Pharaoh and demanded he let Moses and his people go (they were slaves in Egypt, not people Pharaoh would be inclined to drive away since they were his cheap labor force). When Pharaoh would not let Moses and the Israelites go, 10 plagues descended upon Egypt one at a time until finally Pharaoh let Moses and his people leave. Pharaoh quickly changed his mind and chased Moses (to either capture them all or kill them all) to the Red Sea where Moses and his people safely crossed the sea and Pharaoh's men/army were all swallowed up by the sea.

Why do you think god chose moses to talk to the pharaoh?

1.Moses was an Israelite.Exo 3:11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?"2. By himself Moses was unable to do the job God called him to do. If Moses was going to do the job of leading the Israelites out of Egypt he would have to have faith in God.Exo 4:10 Then Moses said to the LORD, "O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue."3. Moses had been prepared for desert living during the years he lived with Jethro the priest of Midian.

Why is Moses considered a messenger of god?

Answer 1at first he was the son of the pharaoh (his mother floated him down the Nile so he would not be killed because the pharaoh would kill all first born sons of the Hebrews)then he realized he was actually a Hebrew and killed a slave master because the Hebrews were slaves so he was vanished from the kingdom then he heard the Hebrew God for the first time and the God said to ask the pharaoh to free his people so he went to the pharaoh(which was now his brother not his dad his brothers name is: Ramses II) But he said he wouldn't free them so god punished them with the ten plaguesSo the reason god choose Moses is because he was trustworthy and the first time god spoke to him he did what God saidAnswer 2Numbers 12:3 says this:Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth.

What is pharaoh's real name?

Presuming you mean the pharaoh of the Exodus - the real name of this pharaoh was probably Amenhotep II since this is the pharaoh who was ruling at the time of the Exodus in c. 1441 BC. The name was not mentioned because this was a literary custom of those earlier times when Moses wrote, whereas we see later pharaohs such as Nechoh being mentioned by name. Another possibility which is currently a view held by a number of scholars in the field is that the Egyptian chronology needs revision by several hundred years at least and so this would put it under an earlier pharaoh.

What did God say when moses said i don't know enough?

Moses never used those words. Rather, he said 1) The Israelites will ask Your name; 2) Who am I to speak to Pharaoh and to lead the Israelites; 3) The Israelites won't believe me; and 4) I stutter. For each of these questions which Moses raised, God provided an answer: 1) He revealed two of the Divine Names to Moses 2) He said that His Presence will be with Moses 3) He granted certain miraculous acts to Moses 4) He gave Aaron as a spokesman.
