Who was Mary Magdalena?

Mary Magdalene or Mary of Magdala was a follower of Jesus and stayed with him even while he was crucified on the cross (John 19:25) and was the first person to witness the resurrection (Mark 16:9).

Is the immoral woman in Luke 7 Mary magdalene?

Yes the lady mentioned in the gospel of Luke chaper 7 verse 36 onwards was indeed Mary Magdalene.. But she later changed her ways.

Why did Mary madgdalene get stoned?

Mary Magdalene was not stoned in the Bible. She is often confused with other women in the Bible who were in different situations. Mary Magdalene was a devoted follower of Jesus and was the first person to witness his resurrection.

Was the woman that Jesus cast 7 demons out of the same woman at the well in the Bible?

No. Jesus taught the Samaritan woman at the well and others who came from her city (John 4:6-40), but she is never named, and the only miraculous power displayed in that encounter was in Jesus knowing her thoughts (v.17 and 18).On the other hand, the woman Jesus cast seven demons out of is plainly identified as Mary Magdalene. See Mark 16:9 and Luke 8:2.

What are facts about Mary Magdalene?

Mary Magdalene was a follower of Jesus Christ mentioned in the New Testament. She is often portrayed as a reformed prostitute, although there is no biblical evidence to support this. Mary Magdalene is said to have witnessed Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection, and is considered a significant figure in Christian theology.

Who were the 7 Mary's mentioned in the Holy Bible?

You are one up on me. I only know of six: Mary, the Mother of our Lord, (Luke 1.43). Mary Magdalene, out of whom Jesus had cast 7 devils (Mark 16.9) Mary the mother of James and Joses, (Matthew 27.56) Mary, Martha's sister, (Luke 10.39) - This was the same Mary that anointed Jesus' feet, (John 11.12) Mary the Mother of John, (Acts 12.12) Mary in Romans, (Romans 16.6)

Did St. Mary Magdalene wipe the feet of Jesus?

It is not known who the woman was in Luke 7:37-50, just that she was "a woman... who was a sinner" ie prostitute.Luk 7:37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,Luk 7:38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.Luk 7:39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.Luk 7:40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.Luk 7:41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.Luk 7:42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?Luk 7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.Luk 7:44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.Luk 7:45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.Luk 7:46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.Luk 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.Luk 7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.Luk 7:49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?Luk 7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace. It is not Mary (the sister of Martha and Lazarus) because although it is similar to the events in Matthew 26:6-13 where Mary (the sister of Martha and Lazarus) annointed Jesus, that was in Bethany and the " woman... who was a sinner" in Luke 7 was in Galilee. It is very unlikely that it was Mary Magdalene either because she was mentioned by name only three verses later in Luke 8:3 and Luke, the careful historian, doesn't add anything to identify or explain her such as "Mary Magdalene, who washed Jesus feet in Simon's house"; also, although she had demons cast out of her there is no evidence Mary Magdalene was a prostitute.

What 4 women in the bible were visited by an angel?

Actually at least five women had been visited by angels which include Hagar, Sarah, Zorah's wife (mother of Samson), Mary (mother of Jesus), and Mary Magdalene. Three can be found in the Old Testament and two in the New Testament. The particular passages are as follows:Hagar (Genesis 16:7)Sarah (Genesis 18:1-16)Zorah's wife - mother of Samson (Judges 13:3)Mary (Luke 1:30)Mary Magdalene (Matthew 28:1-2)

Did Mary Magdelene wipe the face of Jesus?

There is no specific mention in the Bible of Mary Magdalene wiping the face of Jesus. The act of wiping Jesus' face is traditionally attributed to another woman, Veronica, based on Catholic devotion and folklore.

Where was Jesus when he delivered Mary Magdalene?

Assuming by 'delivered' you mean delivering her from seven demons, it seems to vary according to tradition. It is not stated directly in the bible. The Eastern Orthodox Church considers her to be the same person as 'the sinful woman' of Luke 7:36-50 in the Pharisee's house which, judging from context, appears to be in a town called Nain (Luke 7:11). Some believe that the name 'Magdalene' is actually a title marking her as coming from the town of Magdala on the Western Shore of the sea of Galilee, in which case the deliverance probably happened there. Roman Catholic and Protestant traditions tend to see Mary Magdalene as seperate from the sinful woman and there does not appear to be a clear consensus, but since her presence is mentioned at the crucifixion in each gospel apart from Luke ( Mark 15:40)(Matthew 27:56)(John 19:25), she may well be one of those women who 'followed Jesus from Galilee' (Luke 23:49). If that's the case, it's possible the event happened in Galilee. The Gnostic gospels on the other hand, present a completely different vies, though I don't know their interpretation in detail. Basically, any definitive answer to this question is really just conjecture.Gospel QuotesAfter this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. (Luke 8:1-3)And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance watching these things. (Luke 23:49)Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out-the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't cry (Luke 7:11-13)40There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. (Mark15:40)55: Many women were there watching from afar, whohad followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him.56: Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jamesand Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. (Matthew 27:55-56)25 but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. (John 19:25)
