Before that time, beginning during World War I, it was known as the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a part of the Army Signal Corps. Prior to World War I, there was no such organization, and prior to the invention of the airplane by the Wright brothers at the beginning of the 1900s, there were no aircraft, so there certainly was no Air Force in 1641.
