purity == They lost what are called the "Preternatural gifts" as well as sanctifying grace, for they had been created in a state of union with God. These Preternatural gifts included immortality, impassibility (that is freedom from all sickness and injury as well as despotic control over the emotions), freedom from concupiscence (despotic control over the lower passions), incorruptible knowledge (they were given infused knowledge and could never reason improperly or forget), and lordship over the earth (obedience of all creation to their direction).

The biblical story of Adam and Even is widely misunderstood to represent God as punishing Adam and Eve for eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, by taking away the Garden of Eden, when the story actually tells us that their banishment from the Garden was out of sheer necessity.

In this story, there were two trees, the fruit of which Adam was forbidden to eat - the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life. Adam and Eve, in their innocent state, were unaware that they must die one day, so eating of the Tree of Life was of no interest to them. They ate of the Tree of Knowledge and learnt to understand good and evil, including that they would one day die.

After they had eaten of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil they became like gods (Genesis 3:22: "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us..."), except that they were still mortal. By eating of the Tree of Life, they would then also be immortal. To make sure that this did not happen, Adam and Eve had to be kept away from the Tree of Life. In Genesis 3:24, God drove out the man and placed at the entrance of the Garden of Eden, cherubim and a flaming sword to keep [block] the way of the Tree of Life.

When the story is read carefully, this was not a punishment for sinning, but to ensure that Adam and Eve did not eat the other fruit and become immortal like the gods.

Adam and Eve's sin turned the whole earth into turmoil. That initial sin is the reason babies are born with disabilities. It's the reason accidents happen that cause deaths. It's the reason no matter how hard we try, we can not be perfect. Humans are incapable of perfection, and it started with that first act of disobedience against God.

In Genesis in The Bible, God lists these direct punishments for the sin:

He punished the serpent by cursing it above all other animals and forcing it to crawl on its belly from then on. He said that humans and snakes will never (for lack of a better way to word it) "get along". Humans will crush their heads and snakes will bite at humans' heels.

He punished women by making childbirth severely painful, and making women led by men, instead of 100% equals with men.

He punished men by cursing the ground and making the earth less willing to sustain human life. In other words, men would have to work immensely harder than before just to survive.

And God punished all mankind by introducing death into the world. Adam and Eve would've lived forever if it weren't for that first sin. Now our human bodies will die and we will return to the dust from which mankind originally came.

There is nothing called Islamic baptism. Muslims, per Islam religion teachings, do not believe in baptism which is believed in by Christians as rituals to get one purified from what they call the Adam original sin. Muslims believe also that everyone is responsible of his doings and sayings and is responsible of the consequences. No one bears the sins of others.
