Jamestown was the first English settlement in Virginia in 1607. Three ships carried colonists into the Chesapeake Bay. There were 104 original colonists and 39 sailors. Hundreds of other colonists arrived to Jamestown in the next few years, causing a lot of fighting between the colonists and the Native Americans.
