The so-called "Gang of Four" was the thriving force behind the Cultural Revolution. They were (not necessarily personally, but certainly politically) responsible for all the excesses of that time. They were for a permanent class struggle against "capitalist roaders" and against capitalist methods to boost the economy. To me, this is in general correct, but they by far exaggerated it: Every kind of effective economic measure, every short-term and minimal liberalisation of the economy was considered as revisionism, and everyone who didn't think like them was declared an outlaw. I personally think in general that Hua Guofeng was the best successor of Mao - on the one hand, he wanted to the "four modernisations", on the other hand, he didn't want to change basic thing and declared the "Two Whatevers". The Gang of Four, however, would have tried to establish kind of a permanent Cultural Revolution, permanent revolutionary mass campaigns, permanent witch-hunt against all "revisionists" and a permanent state of emergency. I think that within just a few years, this policy might have destroyed China.
There are major gangs in China, they are the Tiny Rascals Gang & the Asian Boyz Crips. Other than that, there isn't much street gang activity in China, most of their gangs are well organized Mafias.

Gangs can be considered a type of clique because they are tight-knit, exclusive groups that share common interests, activities, and goals. Just like cliques, gangs often require loyalty, secrecy, and adherence to group norms or codes of behavior. Membership in both gangs and cliques can provide individuals with a sense of belonging, identity, and protection.
