The membership of a political party has the job of voting for the nominees of that party and supporting the ideology of its political platform. Without the membership's willingness to do this, the party can't hope to obtain or maintain power.

Many people confuse libertarians with liberals, the green party, or Ralph Nader. For the 2004 election, the Libertarian Party tried to define who they are, what they stand for, and how they differ from other political affiliations. The party however is still not organized enough to really get their message out.
