The conservative response led to a unification of Germany under Prussia and a new influx of German immigrants of a republican mien (Not the political party, but the European usage) into the US.

It led to the widespread discontent with the political leadership; the order for more participation and democracy; the strain of the working classes; the rise of nationalism; and finally, the regrouping of the intransigent forces based in the royalty, the aristocracy, the army, and the peasants.

It was the only Europe-wide collapse of traditional authority to date, but within a year, reactionary forces had won out, and the revolutions collapsed.
