What is the date of Thomas Edison's death?

Various sites speculate over the exact date of his death, but most agree that it was on October 21st (or the 18th) 1931. I have a copy of a telegram from Edison's attending physician, Dr. Hubert S. Howe stating that Thomas Alva Edison quietly passed away at 3:24 am on October 18, 1931. He died at his home, now part of the National Park Service, in Llewellyn Park, West Orange, NJ.
