There were a few factors that contributed to this conflict:

1. Impressment- British ships would capture U.S. ships and force their crews to join the British Navy.

2. War with France- Britain and France were fighting around this time and the U.S. gave aid to both countries but didn't enter the conflict; both sides retaliated but the British had a superior navy to prevent U.S. aid from arriving in France.

3. Frontier tensions- Many British soldiers in forts in the new territories of the U.S. refused to leave. Many of these forts were in the Great Lakes region, which was the "West" that many Americans were beginning to migrate to.

The British and French interfered with our American Trade, the British didn't treat us Independent, and we wanted Canada.

Theses were the major reasons for the War of 1812 between the US and Britain:

1. Both Britain and France were interfering with American trade and were taking American ships.

2. The United States believed that Britain still not treating it as an independent country, and was actually providing Native Americans with guns to attack American settlers.

3. The United States also wanted to take Canada from Britain, and Florida from Spain.
