* In Strasburg, Germany on 2 February 1886: Dr. Jose Rizal visited the cathedral and climbed a tower 142 meters high.
* In Heidelberg, Germany from 3 February 1886 to 22 April 1886: Dr. Jose Rizal visited the famous castle of Heidelberg, and the eye clinic of Dr. Otto Becker. He also saw the duels in Hirschgasse among students. There he wrote the poem, "A Las Flores de Heidelberg."
* In Wilhelmsfeld, Germany from 26 April 1886 to 25 June 1886: Dr. Jose Rizal studied the German country life and practiced speaking good German.
* Back in Heidelberg, Germany from 26 June 1886 to 6 July 1886: Dr. Jose Rizal became a member of the Chess Club Germany. From Heidelberg, he sent a book on arithmetic written in Spanish and in Tagalog to Prof. Ferdinant Blumentritt. He also witnessed the fifth centenary celebration of the University of Heidelberg.
* In Leipzeg, Germany from 15 August 1886 to 21 October 1886: Dr. Jose Rizal taught Prof. Blumentritt Tagalog. He witnessed the feast of the Sedan, visited a beer manufacturing company, and got acquainted with Dr. Hans Meyer, author of an encyclopedic dictionary in German.
* In Dresden, Germany from 29 October 1886 to 1 November 1886: Dr. Jose Rizal visited the Palacio Japonais and met Dr. A. B. Mayer, a naturalist.
* In Berlin, Germany from 1 November 1886 to 11 May 1887: Dr, Jose Rizal was admitted to the Real Biblioteca de Berlin to do some research work. He did some outline of the Teruray dialect spoken in Mindanao, taught Maximo Viola the German language, translated the book of Waitz, and became a member of the Ethnographic Society of Berlin.
