Working conditions for migrant workers were harsh and unbearable.. They had to work from the crack of sun to later evening. They were forced to pick crops all day and had gotten little shade and a little water if any..

They worked in the fields just as they have for years. Working conditions were awful and it wasn't until the 1960's that the United Farm Workers union began to fight for better working conditions and a fair wage.
