I found that the easiest way to get to the starter of an 1987 Trooper II is to take the front right wheel off. You should see it right there, and with relatively easy access.

it is tucked up under the body just in front of the rear drivers side wheel inside the chassis raill.it is coverd by a metal protection plate.
Crankshaft sensor on a 1994 Trooper is located behind the passenger side motor mount near the bottom of the engine. If you look behind the front passenger wheel and behind the suspension support, your can see the sensor and wire. It is a tight fit to remove it.
