Why are animals in zoos instead of the wild?
Some zoos have animals just for show and they breed them there. Other zoos just have endangered animals: animals that are injured and cannot survive in the wild, babies that have been abandoned or separated from their parents or endangered species. But some zoos have a mixture of both... :)

Some zoos are there for conservation efforts, which means that they take endangered animals out of the wild, to a saf place where they can breed. They then release the animals back into the wild in an attempt to allow their numbers to grow back into a healthy population.
