It has the same effect on most cars. A tune up will give you a slight increase in gas mileage, and may give you a smoother ride. It will not cause any major improvements though.

Disconnect the Skylark's battery. Remove the starter's wiring then unbolt the starter. Slide the starter out. Wiggle the new starter back into the hole, and bolt up. Connect the wiring, then reconnect the battery.
There is a tool that you can use to knock-off the retainer clip. Any auto store should have it.
Recommended should be in your manual or a tire store can look it up. If your spare is original & not a space saver, check the blackwall.
