The user who stated it is an STI is incorrect. The I in STI stands for infection which can be readily cured with antibiotics. It is a STD. Something you pick up and just can't put down. We were told to call STD's STI's because someone said it wrong.

People have been preaching the doom of mankind for almost as long as there has been a mankind. Its really not likely to happen, and certainly at no time soon. However, the current thinking is that if anything is going to wipe us out its going to be either an impact with an asteroid or the erruption of a massive volcano (like the one in Yellowstone National Park) that will result in so much debris being thrown into the atmosphere that it will block out most of the sun, killing off plants and then wiping out the rest of the food chain.
