Nothing. An auto battery system is 12V DC. If both terminals aren't in the loop (positive through the current path and back to negative) nothing happens.

How does emergency light switch work?

An emergency light switch uses a relay. A relay has an 5 terminals. The firs two terminals are connected to a flowing current (current flows when there is a normal electricity) The next 3 terminals are the common, the normally on, and normally off. One of the battery terminal is connected to the common, and the other one terminal of the battery is connected to one terminal of the light bulb(which has two terminals) then the other terminal of the light bulb is connected to the normally on terminal of the relay. When current flows to the first two mentioned terminals of the relay, the circuit of the battery and light is cut off or not connected. But when the current is off, this will switch on the normally-on terminal thus current will flow from the battery to the light bulb, that will shed light. ;) on an emergency situation. note: The normally off is not use. And may be use for some purpose.

If one terminal of a battery is connected to the frame of the equipment in which it's used the connection is generally made with a?

If one terminal of a battery is connected to the frame of the equipment in which it's used, the connection is generally made with the ground, and this is called a ground connection. It refers to the reference point from which all other electrical voltages are measured.

What is a battery method of a single phase transformer?

Connect a VOM to one winding. Momentarily connect a battery to the other winding. When the battery makes contact, a pulse will occur on the other winding. If the pulse is positive, then the terminal connected to the plus lead is in phase with the lead connected to the battery.

How do you use a single terminal car horn on a two terminal electrical wiring system?

On a vehicle, the return path to the battery is through the vehicle's framework. The negative terminal of the battery is connected to the frame of the vehicle. The reason there is only one terminal on the horn is that, that is all that is needed to make the horn operate. Applying the positive side of the battery to the single terminal which is connected to the horn's coil will make it operate. When the horn is bolted to the vehicle this completes the circuit back to the negative terminal of the battery. Apply the 12VDC to the horn by pressing on the horn button which closes the circuit and the horn activates. A horn with only one terminal has its coil grounded internally within the horn. A horn with two terminals has the coil isolated from the ground. On a two terminal horn there needs to be a wire installed to the frame on one of the terminals to make the horn operate.

How do you connect a 24 volt charger to two 12 volt batteries?

You connect the batteries in series Red charger lead to one red battery terminal, then the black battery terminal of that battery to the red battery terminal of the second battery. Then black battery terminal of the second battery to the black lead of the charger.

What happen when 3 cells of 1.5V is connected to one end of wires then connected to small torch bulb?

Nothing, for electricity to flow there has to be a voltage difference, ie connected from one end of the cells to the bulb, AND from the other terminal of the bulb to the other end of the cells.

WHere is the positive battery terminal in a Mazda miata?

The battery in located in the trunk, and the positive terminal is the one that is slightly larger and labeled with a + sign.

How do I wire 6 batteries together for my golfcart?

what is the voltage of your batteries and how many volts do need to run the golf cart?for example: you have six 12V batteries and you need 24V to run the golf cart then:Set the batteries in pairs, for each pair run a wire from the one positive terminal of battery one to the one negative terminal of battery two, leave the other terminal of each battery alone. now you have created three 24V batteries.Next you need to connect all batteries to the golf cart to use their power.take set one of the the three sets of batteries and connect the free positive terminal " not connected to the other battery" and connected to the golf cart positive connection, the same goes for the negative.do the same for the other two sets.

What meant by one terminal of a car battery said to be connected to ground since it is not really connected to the ground?

'Ground' is an electrical term indicating the return path completing a circuit . ~ See related link below . The negative terminal of a car battery is connected to the chassis of the car. This defines the reference point for measuring voltages in the car. It is possible for the body of the car to be connected to the ground, such as when the car is put on a metal jack. This has no electrical effect, so the body of the car is pretty much equivalent to ground.

How do you know which battery terminal is the correct one for your battery?

A person can tell the proper size by knowing the size of the notches on the battery before heading to the store to purchase. Then based on the size that will determine the battery terminal size required for the battery.
