when relief valve fails open the system will have nopressure resulting in weak hydraulic operation and if it fails closed( that is the relief valve stuck closed) itwill result in very high system pressure resulting in a very high load on the pump and the enginerunning or driving it.

What would happen if your household circuit was set up in series circuit?

First, you will need very high voltage to run them altogether. Second, short circuit will be extremely hazardous in your house due to high voltage. Thirdly, you can't switch off the light without off the heater or air conditioning.

What should you do to the surge strip if the circuit breaker fails to reset?

You should replace the surge strip if the circuit breaker fails to reset.

In a series connection if one component fails the whole circuit fails?

Yes. Open circuit. A: It depends on the failure type a short will not necessarily make an open circuit but rather a non functional circuit.

What is the advantage of using a parallel circuit as opposed to a series circuit?

If a component of a parallel circuit fails, there are complete pathways for electricity to allow the remaining components to carry on functioning. ( For instance if the living room light bulb fails, the kitchen light can still work.) Also, if you link several bulbs in series, the current through them drops and they are dimmer than one on its own, but this doesn't happen with a parallel circuit.

Would a relay race be a good example for a parallel circuit or a series circuit?

A relay race would be an example of a series circuit. Since every runner relies on the runner before him/her to continue on, if one runner fails the rest of them fail. With a series circuit, if one part of the circuit fails, all of the parts before and after it fails. A parallel circuit does not completely fail if one or more of the parts fail.

If one lamp fails, will a series circuit still work?

No. Series circuit has 1 path to flow.

What happens to a parallel circuit if one light fails?

A parellel circuit does not fail if one light dies. In a series circuit, it's broken if one light fails (like the old style Christmas lights). See link for example...

What happens to the potential difference of a bulb that burns out in series circuit?

The whole circuit fails - because the action of the bulb blowing cuts the circuit.

Is a parallel circuit brighter than a series circuit?

Both are same. Only thing it depends upon the incoming voltage. In series ciruity if one bulb fails, the ciruit continuity breaks . In case of paraleel circuit even if one bulb fails the circuit continuity will not get affected

What will happen to the total current if you keep adding bulbs in parallel to the circuit?

Adding more lamps in parallel (across) a line will cause total current to climb. It will keep climbing (increasing) until a load protection device (circuit breaker or fuse) breaks the circuit or until something fails because of excessive current.

If a light bulb is missing in a series circuit will the bulb light?

If one light bulb in a series circuit fails, all the other light bulbs will go out, until the failed bulb is replaced and the series circuit is completed again. If one light bulb in a parallel circuit fails, all the other light bulbs will still work.

What is the purpose of an innocent spouse relief tax?
