i suppose it could possibly do some damage ,but you pushed it inside the water section of the engine. Was it rubber or steel or aluminum ? rubber will slowly deterate ,steel will rust into nothing over time, aluminum ( who knows ). I have accidently done that over the years ,most have not been an issue. There was a couple that came back to my shop for wierd over heating problem that finally we removed the water pump and found the old freeze plug blocking the hole at the water pump.

If you can see it and can fish it out great. If not put in new freeze plug add antifreeze and crank it up.Just remember to monitor temp guage for a long period of time, like 6 months to see if the freeze plug moves.Otherwise you get to pull engine take it all apart to find it. I say all this to say this: other mechanics will scream in your face and want $2,500.00 to fix this and it's a major problem. You are the final judge ,if you go with my suggestion is monitor the temp and the worst is you got to take the engine apart anyway.

The engine will leak out coolant/antifreeze from the freeze plug area. Freeze plugs can be replaced, it may take a lot of work to replace one but they are made to be replaceable. It is not advisable to drive any vehicle with a blown freeze plug.

How do i change the freeze plug on driver's side on a 2.8 v6 engine on a 1988 ford bronco 2 xlt?

Locate the bad freeze plug and remove parts that impede the facilitation of reaching the plug. Take a screwdriver and hammer out the old plug. Replace the plug with either a regular plug (a socket that fits the inside of the freeze plug helps) or a rubber expanding freeze plug.

What is the size of 351 windsor block freeze plug above starter. I know that is a its a npt pipethread?

If it is a freeze plug it would not have threads. Freeze Plugs are designed to pop out of the block should the water in the block freeze. This could not happen if the plug was threaded. Hope This Helped.

The steel freeze plug is better than a brass freeze plug. This is because the steel freeze plug can withstand high temperature from the engine block. Moreover, the steel freeze plugs usually fit very well.
