security light on 1998 s10 start but cut off
The red light indicates a failure in the security system. It will not start with a failure.
Be sure to check your security system if you have one. Many of the security systems will "kill" the start circuit when triggered.
i would say its probably the security system. watch and see if the security light is flashing. if it is leave the key in the on position for ten minutes and watch the light when it goes out the vehicle should start.
if the light goes off it's probably the starter...
Place the key in the "Run" position, but don't start it. Walk away. Come back in about 20 minutes. Turn off the key. Start the Blazer. You're done.

Could be in need of a tune up.
Not enough information regarding why the car won't start but as to he security light; it's always blinking when the engine is off.
If the security light on dash is on then it's a passlock problem. If not check the fuel pump first
look on your fuel rail near the motor there is a bleeder to remove the air
Give the fuel pump a chance to prime the system first.
its a bad fuel pump. it works enough to keep it running but it isn't putting out enough pressure.
