However, pirates are not interested in nuclear weapons because they are difficult to fence, they are extremely dangerous when you consider how little knowledge Somali pirates have concerning nuclear weapon stability and maintenance, and they are difficult to transport. Additionally, Somali pirates are not pan-Islamists, but nationalist Islamists, which is to say that their goals are locally centered in Somalia. They want local power and oftentimes, to rule the country. This type of organization is wholly disinterested in nuclear weapons because they do not help secure these goals.
