Just pull the fuse labeled theft system
the red one
There isn't a single "anti theft" wire. The anti theft system is very complex.
When this light stays on, it is telling you the system is not charging. Possible bad alternator, battery, or loose or disconnected wire.
where is the wire for theft system 2000 ford ranger to bypass
I was told by a Chevy dealer that it is built in and cannot be removed. You can disable the anti - theft by getting to the ignition switch and cut the anti - theft wire. Which in my case on a 2001 Malibu was a yellow wire in ignition bundle. This wire must be cut while engine is running to fake out the computer that enables the signal to the fuel pump to allow flow to injectors at engine. I have read so many complaints about GM's anti theft problems by too many people and I certainly feel their pain, especially in their pocket books. That routine of turning key to on position and waiting 10 or so minutes gets to be a real pain after awhile. My yellow wire that I cut was routed down behind the radio to a single pole switch with wires attached and switch left in the open position ( same as wire being cut ). The anti-theft light remains on.
The anti-theft feature prevents the car from being started when one of several anti-theft devices is faulty are have otherwise been activated. The problem you describe might be the ignition switch, which is known to wear out quickly on those models. The system can be completely disabled only when the car is running (meaning the theft deterrent system is inactive after the Passlock II system detects the proper key in the ignition). A wire can be cut that would permanantly disable Passlock II, meaning any key that opens the door (or a screwdriver) could start the car. If the ignition swtich goes out or this wire is cut while the engine is off (theft deterrent system is active) then the car will have to be towed back to the dealer to have the ignition system replaced and reprogrammed.
remove dash panel around stereo and heater controls, then remove the radio. then fish around the wires until you come across a yellow black and red (i think is the last color) set of wires taped together. what you want to do is cut the yellow wire. this will disengage the anti-theft system, but make sure your car is running when you cut the yellow wire or you will be screwed and the car won't start anymore. Hope that helps
To disable an anti-theft system on a 1998 Honda Civic locate the brain. The controls all function of the alarm system. Once located unplug it from the wire harness.
i have a 2000 cavalier with the same anti theft problem. i am not sure if the 2000 has the same anti theft system as the 2004. but here is how i bypassed my system. first remove the steering column cover to gain access to the key cylinder. then disconect the three prong wire that runs from the key cylinder to the wiring harness. then disconect the single black ground wire that runs from the key cylinder to the steering column(on some cavaliers this ground wire may not run to the steering coulmn)next run this ground wire from the key cylinder to the ground wire on the ignition switch.the ignition switch is the rectangular type box that attaches to the back of the key cylinder. (check your manual if you are not sure of this, also the ground wire on the ignition switch is the smallest black wire on this switch, use a volt meter to make sure you are connecting to ground.) turn the key to run position and check for voltage where the three prong wire plugs into the harness. i had 5+ volts on one wire and 12+ vots on the other, the third wire was neutral.( at that time the system was in anti theft mode. ) next start the car the system should be now disabled. the theft system light will remain lit on the dash because it's no longer sending a signal to the computer. you can remove the instrument cluster and pull this light bulb, leave it the way it is or cover it. I've not had a single starting problem since i did this on my car. i suspect there is a way to bypass this system also by using a resistor. would like to know if anyone has tried this. good luck
you are better off leaving the factory CD player because the theft system, pwr locks, etc. are all connected through the CD player and will not work if u remove it unless u re-wire the factory CD player to the trunk.
The main effect you will notice the car stalls and goes dead. The computer shuts down the fuel injectors. If you have problems with the theft system and "NORMAL" procedures dont reset the theft system, check the plug on the wire harness under the battery and there are a couple of "ground wires" under there ,too.
remove ignition switch and cut yellow wire from switch to passlock modual. ohm resistance off ignition yellow wire(at switch). take that reading to a sterio installation shop and get a resister that matches the risistance or close( .006 ohm lee-way).cut black wire at ignition switch and solder resister to yellow wire going to passlock and black wire to modual and you just bypassed system for good.
