clear the stage
The word "stage direction" in theatre means a note in the text which tells the actors what to do, rather than what to say.
True state fright is when you forget all your lines and become hysterical and leave the stage.
Stage direction refers to the areas on a stage (anyone in technical theatre should be aware of this concept.) The area of a stage that is closest to the audience (house) is downstage. The area furthest from the audience (the back of the stage) is called upstage. To someone new to the concept of stage direction, it can be confusing because from the view of the audience, how we would normally perceive direction is switched. Examples of using stage direction in commands/questions would be: 1. "All actors move center stage during the next scene." 2. "Why was this lamp placed upstage right?" 3. "Make sure you fix the third chair, downstage left."
It's generally just treated as a quote. You could also call it a metaphor

Scatter
Stage directions are instructions in the script that indicate how the actors should move and behave on stage. For example: "Enter SAMPSON and GREGORY, with swords and bucklers" - This stage direction from Act 1, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet tells the actors to enter the stage with swords and shields. "They fight" - This direction tells the actors to engage in a fight scene. "Exeunt all but BENVOLIO and MONTAGUE" - This tells the actors to exit the stage, leaving only Benvolio and Montague present.
We were all ready to leave for school by 7:30 am.
The word that best describes people running away in all direction is the word scatter. There is not another word to describe this action.
