Every letter on the keyboard has a specific timing signature based on a letter's position in the ASCII alphabet (L is 39). When you depress the key, it completes a circuit which sends and electrical signal to the computer denoting your interest in seeing a letter "L" sometime in the future.
The copy command in computers saves some selected information, be that text, a file, part of a photograph, or something else, to a virtual "clipboard". It can usually be accessed with the keyboard shortcut "control-c". After an item is saved to the clipboard, it can then be pasted into a second location, making a copy of the original. The "paste" keyboard shotcut is "control-v".
It would just be pure text characters, so things like letters, digits, punctuation symbols and other symbols that you can get from your keyboard. It would not be things like a photograph, which is a graphical file.
