Are you speaking of Romeo and Juliette from Shakespeare?
If so, you could use Veronese clothing from the Renaissance or Venetian or Florentine clothing. Italian City States had vastly different styles so depending on what you wanted to look like, research would be essential to get a gown that was historically correct. I have some links below that you can check out to get what someone would have worn at the time of Shakespeare, and 14th, 15th and 16th Centuries.
Typically a Woman from Verona would have worn:
#1. Camisa ~They always wore a linen or silk under dress to protect their clothing from bodily oils and grime. It was called a Camisa.
#2. Gamura~ which is the gown itself, it would have decorated sleeves often tied onto the Gamura, and had openings in which the Camisa would be pulled to show off.
#3. Giornea~ For the 14th Century to the early 15th Century, would be the next layer, and it is really a cover, it did not typically have sleeves, and it could be open in the front or sides with extra decorations on the sides.
#4. Caul~ would be a net like piece that would cover your hair.
#5. Jewelry~ earrings, and necklaces and belt.

A costume that would emulate The Cure would be best made at home with your own materials. Include dark clothing, dark eye makeup, and a penchant for misery and you will look like Robert Smith in no time.
