Typically, a minor can be chosen for a variety of reasons. It could relate to a second passion, or just another area of a student's interest. Still, it's strength lies in its ability to enhance the primary field of study. Thus, look carefully at your overall career goals and objectives, and look at related fields that might enhance, strengthen, and/or diversify your abilities. For example, if you wanted to teach in a city where there are many different cultural groups then maybe sociology, another language, or urban studies might be a consideration. Being that you will be working with children in Pre-K through fourth grade, maybe some form of fine art, or child psychology would be prudent. In the end, it's really up to you, your interests, and your career goals and objectives as to which would be more beneficial. Lastly, what ever you chose, make sure you have a real interest in the program of study, or it will just become a burden, or a chore which will be difficult to complete in good form, which also would not be beneficial to you or the children in whom you are attempting to help develop. Within this age group, they will be looking and responding to your passion, or lack of it. Therefore, you want to be a positive role model that exhibits energy and passion for what you do. If this is missing, children will see through you.
