What would cause a 1997 jeep grand Cherokee Engine to stop like turning off the key?

Any time a veh shuts off, the failure is suspected to be "ignition system" or "fuel system". The more instantaneous the shutdown leads to believe the Ignition system has a failure. I f fuel related, thge engine will most often "sputter" before shutdown. I always ask people, "was it like a light switch?" If yes, Then I lean towards Ignition system failure, ie: coil,P.C.M, etc.... S[puttering etc.. fuel pump, fuel filter .... ,Brent
