You can not fix the odometer on the early Saturns. You must replace the whole instrument panel.
AnswerThe 98 Pontiac stores the odometer in the instrument panel cluster. The odometer can be reprogramed either by the dealer or there are companies that will re-program it for you (seach google, there are lots). Or you can buy the odometer programmer for about $1000 but its cheaper to just send the cluster module in. (not only is it legal to reset the odometer; its required in most states when you replace the engine. The odometer is required to reflect the mileage of the engine *NOT* the vehicle)
have you checked your fuses?
Many won't roll back, but you can often put a drill on the speedo and roll it forward to the proper mileage.
No it will not, the mileage information is stored in the cluster so you have to have it repaired. Do not lose the original or else you will pay much more. Repair costs range at about $150
What year is it? If it's a 97-04 Regal, the problem lies withing the instrument panel board and must be refurbished. DO NOT try to replace the odometer or get a whole new one. You will lose mileage information. I repair instrument panels and I'm willing to help you, contact me at ANCTechnologies at Hotmail.com
It is against the law for you to change the odometer reading. Ask the State Police (Highway Patrol) in your area what the procedure is. Be careful, there's something like a $10,000 fine for changing one. ----It is only illegal if the car is less than 10 years old and only if it is done with the intent of misleading someone to the actual mileage of the car. If you are changing the mileage on a replacement instrument panel to accurately show the actual mileage, it is perfectly legal. As to how to do it? There are some videos on you tube that show how.
Don't understand the question. The TRIP METER is supposed to re-set to zero so that it can begin anew with the mileage for each new trip. It is the ODOMETER (total mileage) that is not supposed to re-set. To switch back and forth from the trip meter to the odometer press down for a moment on the plastic stem that protruedes through the plastic lens of the instrument panel.
Another name for an Odometer is a Speedometer, situated right in front of the drivers eyes in the instrument panel./////the speedometer tells you the speed of the vehicle as the odometer tells you the distance the car has traveled the odometer is normally mounted in the spedeometer
my odometer sometimes working sometimes not working
