What would cause a 2002 Chevy Cavalier to have low trac off shift hard and the check engine light on?

I too would like to know this. I have been told that it can be caused by a shift sensor in transmission. I have also been told that there are 3 different sensors in this particular transmission. I'm not sure of the locations of the sensors either. Whether they are in the outer body of transmission or internal.
