This may sound strange, but,it happened to me and is so,so,so true. I took my 99 z24 into the stealership for a recall on the starter relay thing. After they done that I got in it and it started shifting REAL HARD. I mean it would give you a whiplash it shifted so hard. Check engine light came on. I turned around took it back, they pulled codes on a hand held. It said IAT sensor circuit low. The service guy went inside to ask "Da Man". I looked under hood and the Intake Air Temp. sensor was unplugged. "Da Man" came back with what I should check.I pointed out the sensor was unplugged, his response...oh wow. We plugged it back in,erased the code, and off I went...Smooth shifting after that.. strange but true...p.s. my z24 is auto trans.

Granny shifting is changing up gears before (roughly) 6000rpm.
