A dog can get lead poisoning by eating dirt and grass that has been in contact with a product with lead in it. I personally had my back yard tested for heavy metals. Some toys especially those made in china and Japan are made with plastics which have certain dyes that have lead in them. The possibilities are numerous. You can buy a lead testing kit at your local hardware store, and test all the things your dog comes in contact with. I highly recommend this. I have small children and puppies at my home, so I keep these tests on hand. Watch your dog for a few days, and everything he comes in contact with test it for lead.
