Some of them have a small hole in the center on the shaft. I think they come with a cover that can fall out. Some people clean the area and spot weld it shut or seal with epoxy. I'm having the same problem and I'm looking for a replacement cover so I don't have to replace the whole yoke, which is otherwise fine.
check fluid level
Are you asking the cause of the leak or cause of the not moving problem. If your fluid is low that may be the problem right there. YOU CAN BURN OUT A TRANSMISSION BY NOT KEEPING FLUID FULL!!!
It should be marked right on the dipstick what fluid to use.
There are several things that can cause your 1995 Chevy Cavalier transmission not to go into drive or reverse. The most common cause is a lack of transmission fluid. A broken shifting fork will also cause the problem.
hello have you checked the transmission fluid? is it full? good luck
Check the transmission fluid. From your description, it sounds like it is low.
I was told by my mechanic that the transmission hesitating after putting it in drive after reversing is a sign of the transmisison dying. ---------- Check transmission fluid. When the fluid is low there is not enough in the torque converter, so when you go to reverse or drive you have to rev the engine before it moves to compensate for less fluid in the torque converter.
Having too much fluid will cause your transmission fluid to look foamy
Low transmission fluid will cause the vehicle not to move. Try filling the fluid and see if it works. good luck
The output shaft seal has failed and transmission fluid is leaking by, and that would explain the transmission fluid appearing there.
