What would cause hesitation shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and 2nd to 3rd gear and not shifting into overdrive at times on a 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme?

check your trans fluid levels, they are possibly low. there should be a dipper (or dipstick) in the engine bay, when car is turned off, on level ground, remove dipper, wipe clean, & re dip, then check, there wil be indicating markers on the bottom of it
put in new fluid.
check the owners manual for the recommended fluid, & use that, usually it will be a standard ATF (auto trans fluid) it may have a trans filter also.
not sure where the filter will live if it has one.
