The 1996 ( most other model years ) Jeep Cherokee has either the DANA 35 rear axle or the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle. ABS brakes are optional with the Dana 35 . The Chrysler 8.25 never had ABS. The front axle is the DANA 30.
It is a Chrysler built axle with a ring gear diameter of 9.25 inches.
Front would be a Dana 30 and the rear is either a Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25.
The 9.25 rear axle is a Chrysler corporate axle, it is not a Dana.
