Grand Am GT

What would cause the brake light to come on in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT I have checked the brakefluid as well I have added new pads and bled the brake lines only to find the light still on?

If you look below your brake reservoir there is a sensor that

detects if your brake fluid is low. If this sensor goes bad or

sticks, it will make the brake light come on. Try unplugging this

connector. Your light should go off. If you are not having to add

fluid periodically to the system, I would replace the sensor. If

you are having to add any fluid to the system, then you probably

have a leak in a brake line or at one of your calipers.

Also be sure the emergency brake is fully released.
