First verify its not leaking by doing a pressure test.
Stant makes a pressure tester for about 125 bucks
Once you pressurize it and confirm for a few minutes that it is not leaking
then I suggest a headgasket analizer kit 60 bucks
You use this by filling a fluid in a cylinder which will change color when reacting to chamber gases. put the tool in place of the cap will it is running and draw only air through sylinder. If it is a head gasket the fluid will change colors(usaully purple to yellow)
It will not cause the engine to overheat. You have another problem.
If the converter is partially clogged it can cause the engine to overheat which can cause serious problems. Other than that if will not harm the engine.
it is possible for heat from combustion to cause an engine to overheat quickly depending on where the gasket is blown, but i would look for a lack of coolant circulation first. if your coolant is not getting out of the motor and into the radiator it will overheat very quickly.
no the higher milage or higher rpms can cause the head bolts to stretch which would cause it to blow
The overheat of the engine. You could find some information on Wikipedia.
Hey Craig==The most common cause is the cooling fans are not operating correctly. Check them out. GoodluckJoe
A cracked radiator would leak the fluid out, leaving no coolant for your engine which would cause your engine to overheat and be destroyed pretty quickly. So the answer is NO.
The Taurus could overheat for several reasons. The coolant could be low, the fan might not be operating properly, or the engine could have a stuck thermostat.
low coolant ,froze thermostat ,leaks in hoses ,radiator
A defective thermostat can cause the engine to overheat. It can also cause the engine to not reach full operating temperature if the thermostat is stuck open. It is possible this could set the check engine light.
One situation that the overflow jug would cause an overheat condition would be if the hose and/or connectors were plugged up or blocked. NOTE: before disconnecting anything to do with the radiator, ensure the engine is COOL! The cooling system operates under significant pressure.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but : - low engine coolant - engine thermostat stuck closed - water pump not circulating - engine cooling fan not working properly - restricted radiator
