Defroster vents might be plugged, but I imagine you've already checked that. It's probably a problem in the HVAC system like a loose or broken wire or a loose or cracked hose. It sounds like you might have to pull the shrouds or panels off from around the heater/ac controls to get at them, then remove, inspect, repair or replace. You should probably pick up a Chilton or Haynes manual. let us kow if you need more help.
Another thought:
If your AC is not working, your defrosters probably won't work either, as the AC is automatically switched on when you turn on the defroster.

what causes a roaring sound in a 2004 pontiac sunfire after it warms up? it runs great and idles great and quiet except for this.Anonymously
There are a couple of things that can cause your Pontiac antilock brakes to lock up. The most common cause is a malfunctioning ABS sensor.
the thermostat stuck shut. will cause the car to over heat at ant temp!
The cause of this would be a bad weather stripping on your door or bad seal on your windshield. To find out pour water on your wind shield to see if it leaks or look at the rubber seal on the door and see if its ripped. if it is it needs to be replaced. if its the windshield you will have to bring it somewhere so they can reseal it.
There are a few reasons that would cause your 2002 Pontiac back speakers to only work sometimes. The most common cause is a loose or corroded ground wire.
check if your battery is low than usual ..might be alternator problem
A bad PCV valve or a problem in the PCV system will cause this
windshield leaking heater core or heater core hoses.
A 2001 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 engine is a zero tolerance engine which will suffer catastrophic damage should the timing system fail. Because of the tight tolerances inside the engine, even being out of alignment a fraction of a second can cause the valves to slam into the pistons.
temperature gauge not working can be caused by a bad temp sensor in engine, a bad gauge in dash, or a bad fuse
Your piston rings are probably bad. Which will cause compression loss, in effect you will loss power, and it will let oil trough and saturate your plugs.
