In the cooling system it transfers heat out through the radiator. If mixed with the gasoline, it can cause rough running or no start. If pulled in through the air filter it can cause a catastrophic failure.
have you checked your connections on battery they could have come loose it could be something as simple as that
Possibly shocks are tired and slack and are banging, they'd need changing if that were the case and your steering would be affected, if your control of the car is sound, then perhaps exhaust is rattling and just needs adjusting
