Due to the close proximity of Mercury to the sun, we would all be burned up. Also in the process of the Earth moving to Mercury's position, a geographical disaster would occur due to the stress the planet would be under.
Basically, everyone would die, and that's about it.
we will all be dead when day comes
the earth would be destroyed
The atmosphere would be fried and the Earth would disentegrate.
The Earth is NOT going to be hit by a meteor on that date, unlike what some people would lead you to think. If a meteor was going to hit, we would have known about it months or possibly years before, and it would be getting constant news coverage.
we ride it out
No, you would not. You would burn when you hit the centre of the earth. Even if the Earth did not have a heated centre, you would not hit China unless you lived in the US and dug a perfectly straight line. No, you would not. No, you wouldn't!!!! The US is in the Northern hemisphere. So is China. Digging through the centre of the earth would land you in the SOUTHERN hemisphere.

It would be better to ask what would happen if Earth hit a star, as stars are much larger than Earth is. The planet would be vaporized by the intense heat.
very little
Since "Planet X" is entirely imaginary, probably nothing at all.
Earth has an atmosphere unlike Mercury. Since Earth has an atmosphere, the meteriors burn up before they hit the ground. Mercury has little to no atmosphere so the meteriors are free to hit the ground and make craters.
They will hit Earth if, in their orbit around the Sun, they happen to cross Earth's orbit.

It is quite common for small meteors to hit the Earth. Larger impacts by an asteroid or comet are also possible but happen much less often.
they would hit the surface at the same time, same as on earth.
Because in the past, just after the moon and Mercury was formed a lot of asteroids hit mercury and the moon.
