We would probably be in a lot of trouble if we didn't have mitosis! In fact, we probably wouldn't exist at all. From the time an egg is fertilized by a sperm, mitosis starts to happen. And in our daily lives, skin cells, stomach cells, hair cells, bone cells, and other tissue cells are undergoing mitosis!

Is mitosis the process that moves water through a cells membrane?

No. That would be osmosis. Mitosis is the process of dividing into two cells.

What would happen if mitosis was uncontrolled in the cells of a person skin?

it would cause cancer to develop

Does mitosis result in genetic diversity?

No, mitosis is just cell division, mostly somatic cells, and the mutations that would happen in these cells are not inherited as these body cells die without progeny.

What would happen if cells did not go through mitosis?

well what i think is that go to south elgin high school and tell them cus its a awsome school GO STROM:D

In a human body give an example of a where mitosis may occur Give an example of where meiosis would occur?

Any time when a cell needs to replicate, it goes through mitosis. The only cells that don't go through mitosis are sex cells.

A mitosis inhibitors is a medication that is designed to prevent mitosis in certain cells why would these be helpful in the treatment of tumors?

it would prevent tumor cells from reproducing.

What purpose does mitosis serve in development and growth?

Mitosis is the process of cell division that occurs in living things except in the gonads (sex cells). In mitosis the "daughter" cells have the same number of chromosomes as the original cell. During mitosis, a cell splits in two passing on the genetic material.

What are some reasons why a cell would have to go through mitosis in a body?

Your cells have to grow, repair themselves and reproduce. Mitosis is the process in which they do this.

What would happen if the cell went through mitosis but cytokinesis?

Cell will be a di nucleii cell

What would happen if cytokinesis occurred without mitosis explain?

The chromosomes would not have replicated, so the resulting daughter cells will not have the correct ploidy.

Why is it important that sex cells do not go through mitosis?

sex cells need to go through meiosis because the daughter cells will get half the chromosomes. if they when through mitosis they would get all the necessary chromosomes and when an egg is fertilized and creates a child it will have double the number of chromosomes that it needs. it could cause mutations.

What cell would use the process of mitosis?

Mitosis occurs in eukaryotic cells. Most animal and fungi cells divide by mitosis; except the gametes.
