The atmosphere would eventually lose all of the oxygen, and be replaced by carbon dioxide. This is because without photosynthesis, the plants cant filter the CO2, and humans would keep exhaling it. This would also lead to the death of all plants and animals, since plants use photosynthesis to create food for themselves, and humans need oxygen to live. So basically, everything on the earth would die off. Oxygen plays a vital role in the atmosphere, by acting as a shield against harmful ultraviolet radiation from penetrating the atmosphere to ground level. In the early atmosphere, without oxygen, this ultraviolet radiation would definitely have penetrated the atmosphere. Life would certainly not have been possible in that very hostile environment.

Carbon dioxide levels will increase.

Well theoretically if photosynthesis stopped then the plant-life (Trees, flowers, plants etc.) would die, and if the plant-life died, then all the oxygen in earth's atmosphere would slowly be consumed by us, not regenerating. This is because plant-life breathes in carbon dioxide (Stuff we breathe out) and breathes out oxygen (Stuff we breathe in)

So when the oxygen ran out, we would all die.

So in short Earth's atmosphere would lose its oxygen
