If the two intestines were as long as the large intestine currently is, you'd have to eat a lot more than you do now to get proper nutrition. The small intestine pulls nutrients out of the food, and the longer it has to work, the more it can get. If the two intestines were as long as the small intestine currently is, your stool would be excruciatingly dry. The large intestine draws water from the stool, and if it was over four times longer than it now is, you'd really be in trouble.
