Lungs supply oxygen to your blood and they also clear waste carbon dioxide. If they stop working your blood loses oxygen and starts to build up an excess of waste carbon dioxide.
Muscles and other tissue can survive quite a long period without oxygen, but the brain cannot.
Shortage of oxygen to the brain will cause you to lose consciousness. If the oxygen supply is not rapidly restored you can suffer brain damage. If at this stage oxygen supply is restored you can live, though you may have serious problems for many years.
If the oxygen supply is still not restored your brain will stop functioning, though the rest of your body can survive. If at this stage oxygen supply is restored you become a coma patient with little chance or reviving.
And obviously if oxygen supply is never restored, you die.
Oxygen is essential for any living beings survival and the respiratory system is the one that supplies the body with oxygen. If your respiratory system stops working now, you would die within minutes.
you die
You die! No lungs, no oxygen, no oxygen, no life. That being said, people do have problems that are lung related, where they may have trouble breathing (shortness of breath etc.). If this is the case the individual really needs to see a physician and have it checked out. Never play guessing games with your health.
If your lungs stop working, the oxygen can't enter your blood stream and co2 levels build up and you die unless help can arrive and put you on a respirator
Death is near.
One's bodily organs would begin to shut down one by one, from lack of oxygen, with the brain going out last.
Death is here.
First your heart will fail then your lungs will stop working and will stop producing air to keep you alive.
You would die

The kidneys do not effect your lungs even if they don't work. However, you'll die shortly after your kidneys fail.
Your lungs don't stop working but if they do and I didn't know that you have as long as you can hold your breath for so it varies.
There are a number of different reasons why a person's lungs might stop working. For instance, a person could become choked, and that would stop the lungs. Or, a person might have a disease like cystic fibrosis, where the lungs essentially give out.

Mucus can get into your lungs if your ciliated cells stop working.
Your lungs will slowly dissolve, you will stop breathing and death is very likely.
Once they actually fail, the person will die immediately. You cannot live without working lungs.
