What would happen if the coefficient of friction between the tire and the pavement increased greatly?

Nothing. That's exactly what you want. When your coefficient of friction decreases too far, you need new tires.

Is friction useful when you are on a slide?

if there was no friction on a slide, you would gain speed and slide off and depending on the slide (such as a water slide) kill yourself. too much friction makes it boring.

Where friction is useful or nuisance for us?

Lots of friction in the world, some useful, some harmful. But friction is not something that merely exists or does not. It can be measured, and a thing can be said to have too little, too much, or a good amount. If you get a rope burn, when a rope you are holding slips in your hands, that is harmful friction. Friction causes a car to stop when the breaks are put on. An ice skater uses skates because they get traction with their sharp edges, but there is low friction on the blade to slide on the ice. If you were on a roof made of asphalt tiles, and the roof were not too steep, it would be friction that holds you in place. You would know better than to go on the roof if it were covered by ice, because the friction would be too low - it would be slippery.

What would happen if friction would be not there?

It would be nearly impossible to keep things still as there would be no force to oppose an objects motion beyond that which is actively applied. A hit baseball, for example, would still fall to the Earth due to gravity but would loose no speed as it bounced through the grass of the outfield until it hit the wall.Everything would slide around and not be able to stop. There would be no sound because the waves have to be 'tranferred' but with no friction they cannot transfer!Heat is basically friction on a very small scale,(friction among atoms). So with no friction there would be no heat, and everything would be at the absolute zero (-273 degress celcius), and that would mean that nothing moved....ever, (but what if there was too much friction.........)

What would happen if there's no friction while you're sliding down a slide?

If there was no friction at all, you would slide down really quickly and land hard on the ground. However, the pain won't be too harsh, because the lack of friction would keep you going even if you're off the slide; you'd be sliding across and right out of the playground!

About the only thing that will happen is a friction abrasion. Do it too many times in a short period and you will run out of semen. If you can get an erection, it is alright to use it.

Can car brakes overheat?

Yes, they can. It tends to happen more rapidly in heavy duty vehicles with air brakes, but it can happen in light duty vehicles with hydraulic brakes, as well. Brakes create friction, friction creates heat. Too much of it, and they overheat.
