The easiest method is to verify with the vendor that the application downloaded will work on Vista.
You are running Vista on a 32bit computer the application might have a chance to work, you can make software applications run on Vista by setting the compatibility mode to an older version of Windows.
If you are running Vista on a 64bit computer the application will not work at all. The application will need to be a 64bit application and vista compatible.
